Edgerrin James Interview - "Be an Example"

Jake Karls

What does it take to become football royalty? Hard work, determination, discipline, and athletic prowess are definitely crucial components for success. But when it comes to NFL legend Edgerrin James, there aren’t enough words to fully describe this dynamic force. After you all, you don’t acquire a nickname like “the edge” for nothing. From the start of his career in 1999, up until the very end of it in 2009, James was nothing short of spectacular. Having been named a four time pro bowl selection, two time first team all pro, 1999 offensive rookie of the year, two time rushing yards leader, 2000’s all-decade team… sorry, I had to stop for a second and take a breath. Trying to list all of the Edge’s accomplishments in a single lungful almost made me pass out. Even today, Colt’s fans can look up and see “Edgerrin James” plastered in their home stadium ever since he was added to the Indianapolis Colts’ Ring Of Honor. James boasted an over 12,000 yards in his career, with rushing touchdowns to his name, making him the Colts all-time rushing leader. Hell, as a running back, he even put up more receiving yards and receiving touchdowns than most receivers do in their career! Despite having been traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2005… one year before the Colts won the superbowl with legendary gunslinger Peyton Manning, Colts Owner Jim Irsay STILL sent James an honorary superbowl ring. If that isn’t a statement about a young man’s value and accomplishments, I don’t know what is. Without a doubt, we can all look forward to Edgerrin James joining his fellow football legends in the coming years as a member of the NFL hall of fame. Few men truly deserve it more. With that in mind, we are frantically humbled to have The Edge join our team as a new Chase & Hunter brand ambassador!
